Esta es una unidad didáctica de Science sobre "Living Things"
DIDACTIC UNIT 1. LIVING THINGS



LESSON PLAN NAME: Living things

LEVEL: First course. Third cycle.

SUBJECT: Science

AIMS:

1. To associate the activity of living things with the three functions: nutrition, relation and reproduction.

2. To distinguish viruses from living things.

3. To recognise cells as the simplest living entities, and differentiate the different types.

4. To know a classification of living things.



CONTENTS:

1. Characteristics of living things.

2. The function of nutrition, relation and reproduction.

3. Viruses.

4. Cells. Parts. Animals and plants cells.

5. Classification of living things.

BASIC COMPETENCES

1. To increase vocabulary and rigorously use words and expressions related to living things and non-living things in order to express knowledge that has been acquired in the unit.

2. To listen to, understand and produce oral messages.

3. To analyse, make connections and interpret information found in scientific texts and pictures in order to draw conclusions and answer questions.

4. To organise the information in an outline in order to memorise the unit contents (Learning to learn).

5. To analyse the process and the results of an experiment scientifically in order to draw and communicate conclusions related to the unit contents

ACTIVITIES:

 To complete a warm up sheet.

 To talk about their families to review the family vocabulary.

 To complete a worksheet to practice the contents.

 Project: People and plants need the sun to live. We are going to show it.

Materials

- A cardboard box.

- Scissors.

- Soil.

- A small pot.

- Four dry beans.

- Adhesive tape.

Procedure

1. Turn the box in a maze. Cut several holes in the separations and one more on the top of the box.

2. Put some soil into the pot and sow the beans. Water it and put the pot on the corner of the box.

3. Close the box and put the adhesive tape. The sunlight must come in through the hole on the top of the box.

4. You must open the box each two or three days to water the plant. You must continue doing it during two weeks.
